Ben is a registered building practitioner who has been in the building industry since 1989 and operated his own building business since 1999. He became a registered building practitioner in 2005.
For the last 20 years, he has seen the cost of construction & land skyrocket and found his passion getting young folk into their own small spaces for a reasonable cost.
Constructing off-site and shipping to the client's site was the way to do it.
This is not a new idea, however, most off-site builds still have a lot of work to do once the house gets to site, making them not quite so cost-effective in the end.
Ben designed a house size that works well with transport. Sure, it's an oversized load, however, there is no need for an escort vehicle, which means $ saved.
The design is also based around a side loader delivery, so no crane cost in most circumstances means more $ saved.
The only on-site works are :
6 footings for a large unit or 4 footings for a small unit.
Plumbing & electrical to external of modular only, and all are situated at one end of the unit.
After preliminary site works and the unit is put in place, we estimate about 2 hours for plumbing and electrical to finish off. All this can happen while you're moving your furniture in.
